UPDATED: A car carrying a Russian Black Sea Fleet captain of the first rank has been blown up in Sevastopol.

In Sevastopol, a car was detonated, reportedly carrying a captain of the 1st rank from the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

This information was reported by the Telegram channel BAZA.

The explosion occurred on Taras Shevchenko Street. Eyewitnesses attempted to assist the driver, pulling him from the vehicle and handing him over to medical personnel; however, his injuries were fatal – the driver lost his legs.

According to witnesses, a hole formed under the car, which may indicate the presence of an improvised explosive device.

As reported by the Telegram channel Astra, later, the "governor" of the temporarily occupied Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, confirmed the death of the military personnel in the exploded vehicle.

Sources in the SBU informed "Babel" that the explosion was a special operation conducted by the SBU. As a result of the explosion, the Russian captain lost his legs and died from blood loss.

It is noted that the individual in question is Valery Trankovsky, the head of the staff of the 41st brigade of missile ships and boats of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
