Starting from December 1, 2024, the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) has commenced gas supplies to Slovakia's largest state energy supplier, SPP.
This was reported by the press service of SOCAR.
According to the Azerbaijani company, the gas supplies are being carried out in accordance with a previously signed short-term contract.
SOCAR also noted that “the companies aim to develop a long-term energy partnership,” and expanding the customer base allows the Azerbaijani supplier to diversify its export directions.
Slovakia has become the 12th country to receive Azerbaijani gas, joining Turkey, Georgia, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, and North Macedonia.
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that UP provided clarification regarding the publication about gas transit from Azerbaijan through Ukraine. One potential option is that Azerbaijan may purchase Russian gas for itself while exporting its own gas to the EU.
