The detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security (BEB) have announced suspicions against the acting chairman of the board of a gas distribution company for embezzling funds from a joint-stock company on a particularly large scale. This concerns the enterprise owned by sanctioned oligarch Dmytro Firtash, which is responsible for distributing gas to consumers in the Kyiv region.
This was reported by the BEB press service.
The investigation revealed that the suspect, over the course of a year, abused his official position by unjustifiably awarding bonuses to the management team of the company totaling more than 9.9 million UAH. Of this amount, 5 million UAH was allocated by the acting chairman of the board as a bonus for himself. In this way, the management unlawfully acquired funds from the joint-stock company on a particularly large scale.
The unjustifiability of the decisions has been confirmed by the conclusions of the State Audit Office of Ukraine and a number of expert evaluations from the research institute of special technology and forensic examinations of the Security Service of Ukraine.
Currently, the issue of selecting a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention with the possibility of bail equivalent to the damages caused is being resolved.
