US President Donald Trump believes that Volodymyr Zelensky does not need to participate in negotiations with Russia regarding the cessation of hostilities in Ukraine, as he "negotiated poorly" in the past.
He stated this during an interview with Fox News Radio.
The American president mentioned that Zelensky has failed to end the war three years after the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion.
"I don't think it's very important for him to be at the meetings, to be honest with you," Trump said. "When Zelensky said, oh, he wasn't invited to the meeting (of the Russian and US delegations in Saudi Arabia – ed)... it wasn't a priority because he negotiated so poorly."
Trump reiterated that Biden and Zelensky could have prevented the war.
"Every time I say, 'Oh, it's not Russia's fault,' I always get criticized by fake news, but I'm telling you, Biden said the wrong things, Zelensky said the wrong things, and they were attacked by someone much bigger and much stronger. But Russia could have been easily dissuaded," the US president remarked.
At the same time, he acknowledged that Russia attacked Ukraine without justification. "If that happened, it (the war – ed) should have been resolved and settled immediately. It could have been done," Trump stated.
