Biden did not aim for Ukraine's victory in the war with Russia: what his true plans really were.

At the onset of the full-scale invasion, Biden outlined three objectives for the United States, but a victory for Ukraine was not one of them. According to Eric Green, the primary goal was the survival of Ukraine as a sovereign nation.

At the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, then-American President Joe Biden set several objectives for the U.S. response. Among these goals was not the victory of Ukraine and the de-occupation of territories seized by Russia. This was reported by Time, citing statements from Eric Green, a staff member of the American National Security Council under Biden, as conveyed by UNN.

Details

It is noted that when Russia began its full-scale war in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, President Joe Biden outlined three goals for his country. Ukraine's victory was not one of them. The phrasing the White House used to describe its mission was to support Ukraine "for as long as needed," which was intentionally vague.

According to the publication, Eric Green stated that Washington did not promise to assist Kyiv in reclaiming "all lands" occupied by Russia.

The article mentions that, in the White House's view, victory was beyond Ukraine's capabilities, even if the Ukrainian Armed Forces had received more substantial support from the West.

"The primary goal for Ukraine was to survive as a sovereign, democratic country, free to integrate with the West," noted Eric Green.

Biden also aimed for the U.S. and its allies to remain united and insisted on avoiding direct conflict between Russia and NATO.

"Unfortunately, this is a success that doesn’t leave you feeling good," Green added in an interview with Time.

Reminder

Joe Biden plans to write a book after his presidential term ends. The publication will reveal his perspective on the presidency and decisions regarding the 2024 elections.
