Байден не собирается запрещать TikTok в США, сообщает агентство AP.

Joe Biden will not impose a ban on TikTok in the United States, leaving the resolution of this issue to the next president, Donald Trump.

This is reported by Associated Press, citing an unnamed official.

The publication reminded that last year, Congress, in a law signed by Biden, required TikTok's parent company ByteDance to sell the company by January 19, the day before Trump's inauguration. However, according to the official, the current administration will leave the decision on the ban to Trump.

“Trump, who once called for the app to be banned, has since promised to keep it available in the U.S., although his transition team has not disclosed how they plan to achieve this,” writes Associated Press.

Meanwhile, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer reported that during a conversation with Biden, he urged to extend the ban on TikTok, noting that more time is needed to find an American buyer.

It is noted that despite attempts by Democrats to pass legislation that would postpone the ban, this initiative was blocked this week.

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that due to a possible TikTok ban, Americans are migrating to another Chinese app. The Chinese app RedNote has already registered 700,000 “TikTok refugees.”
