The football club "Dynamo" Kyiv faced the Latvian team RFS in the last round of the main stage of the Europa League.
The Kyiv team managed to overcome their opponent and achieve their first victory at this stage of the competition.
In the first half, the game resembled more of a friendly match, with both teams trying to gain match fitness. "Dynamo" had a lot of ball possession, but aside from a goal that was disallowed for offside, it was hard to recall any dangerous moments.
The second half proved to be much richer in terms of scoring opportunities. One of these chances ultimately resulted in a goal when Oleksandr Pikhaliyonok managed to set up the ball for a shot in the opponent's penalty area and delivered an accurate strike.
This goal, as it turned out, was the only one recognized by the referees in this match and brought "Dynamo" their first victory in European competitions, lifting them from the last 36th position in the table to 34th.
