A bit about the Russian Armed Forces. For comparison, Konstantin Moshovets.

Military analyst and coordinator of the "Information Resistance" group, Colonel Konstantin Makhovets of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, discusses instances of SVO in Russia.
Некоторые факты о СЗЧ в России. Для сравнения - Константин Машовец.

There is a motorized rifle division in the Russian army — the 18th motorized rifle division (msd). Its permanent stationing location is the Kaliningrad region. Yes, the former East Prussia, now a Russian enclave between Poland and Lithuania on the Baltic coast.

A whole army corps is stationed there — the 11th Army Corps, which is part of the recently reformed (or rather, restored) "Leningrad Military District" (LVO). The 18th msd is included in this army corps. Its units and subdivisions are primarily located in two places — the city of "Sovetsk" (formerly German Tilsit) and the city of "Gusev" (formerly German Gumbinnen).

Currently, the units and subdivisions of the 18th msd within the 11th AK have been deployed by the enemy in the Kharkov operational direction (targeting the village of Liptsy), and they are also participating in battles in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.

As of early October this year, there were 1250-1300 Russian servicemen (this is officially registered, meaning those reported by commanders of the respective level) involved in unauthorized abandonment of the military unit (SZCh, in Ukrainian — "samovilne zalyshennya viyskovoyi chastyny"). The highest numbers are found in two regiments — the 79th motorized rifle regiment (msp) with 283 servicemen and the 11th tank regiment (tp) with 261 servicemen. In each of these regiments, the number of those "on the run" is slightly less than a battalion.

Within the grouping of the 11th AK, which the enemy has deployed towards the village of Liptsy, the units and subdivisions of this msd are also active. It is the main formation of this army corps.

According to wartime staffing (i.e., in a fully deployed and equipped state), an msd comprises 13.2-13.4 thousand personnel; in peacetime — on a "threatening direction" (and the Kaliningrad region has certainly been and remains such for the Russian military-political leadership) — it is about 11.5-12.3 thousand. "Internal" divisions are generally maintained at significantly lower numbers (up to 10 thousand personnel).

This means that approximately 10% of the personnel of the 18th msd are currently in SZCh… And this division is considered relatively "well-off" in terms of SZCh within the Russian army, even being entrusted with conducting combat operations in one of the important directions. It raises the question: what is happening in the divisions and formations that are deemed "unfortunate" regarding SZCh?
