The country is currently modernizing its military capabilities to effectively respond to contemporary security challenges.
The Ministry of Defense of Lithuania has confirmed its decision to purchase German Leopard 2 main battle tanks. This was reported by the press service of the defense ministry on Wednesday, October 23.
Lithuania has agreed on key decisions to strengthen its national army.
"The decision to continue the procurement of German-manufactured Leopard 2 tanks has been confirmed, along with plans to acquire Swedish CV-90 tracked infantry fighting vehicles," the statement reads.
The country is now modernizing its military potential to effectively respond to modern security challenges.
It was previously reported that the international arms procurement organization OCCAR, on behalf of Lithuania, signed a contract with the German consortium ARTEC for the acquisition of an additional 27 Boxer-Vilkas infantry fighting vehicles for the Lithuanian army.
