In Kyiv, this Christmas and New Year’s celebrations will take place without mass gatherings, events, fairs, or entertainment.
The city's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, reported this.
“This year in Kyiv, Christmas and New Year’s celebrations will occur without mass gatherings, events, fairs, or entertainment. This is in compliance with safety requirements and restrictions on electricity usage. Such a decision was made by the Capital Defense Council,” he wrote.
At the same time, according to him, the main Christmas tree of the country will be set up in Sofiyska Square, as in previous years, funded by patrons. The Capital Defense Council supported the initiative of LLC “Global Decor,” which proposed to arrange the New Year’s tree using its own resources.
It is noted that “Global Decor” will handle the installation and dismantling works, as well as the maintenance of the tree. No funds will be allocated from the city budget.
“They will begin setting up the tree on December 2. The grand opening is traditionally scheduled for St. Nicholas Day, December 6,” the mayor of the capital specified.
He also added that a photo zone with QR codes for charitable foundations and several stalls for selling only souvenir products will be set up near the tree. However, no mass events, fairs, or other entertainment are planned in Sofiyska Square.
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that in several regions of Ukraine, the electricity disconnection schedules were canceled. This was done at the direction of “Ukrenergo.”
