The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in connection with the war in the Gaza Strip.
This was reported by the ICC.
“The Pre-Trial Chamber of the ICC I rejects the appeal of the State of Israel regarding jurisdiction and issues arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant,” the statement reads.
It is noted that the ICC's Pre-Trial Chamber issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant for crimes against humanity and war crimes committed at least from October 8, 2023, to at least May 20, 2024, the date on which the prosecution submitted the request for the arrest warrants.
Reports indicate that the ICC’s Pre-Trial Chamber found grounds to believe that Netanyahu and Gallant deliberately and consciously deprived the civilian population of Gaza of essential survival items—food, water, medicine, medical supplies, as well as fuel and electricity.
