На борту разбившегося в США самолета находились более десяти спортсменов российского происхождения.

Former Russian world champions in figure skating were on board a Bombardier CRJ700 aircraft operated by PSA Airlines, which collided with a helicopter over Washington. This was reported by Daily Mail.

56-year-old Vadim Naumov and 53-year-old Yevgenia Shishkova won the pairs event at the World Figure Skating Championships in 1994.

The couple was returning to the District of Columbia after the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Wichita, Kansas.

It is reported that their son Maxim, who competes for Team USA, was not on board.

“I don’t want to name names, but there were about 14 skaters on the plane, besides their parents and a few coaches,” Russian media quoted American figure skater John Maravilla.

In total, there were about 60 passengers and 4 crew members on the flight.

Background. According to U.S. President Donald Trump, the aircraft was on a perfect and normal approach path for landing.
