Germany will supply Ukraine with an additional 60 IRIS-T air defense missiles from its Bundeswehr stockpiles. This decision was made during discussions held by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius in Kyiv.
According to a statement from the Bundeswehr union, this information was shared.
The value of the missiles planned for transfer to Ukraine amounts to 60 million euros. The decision for assistance was made "without specifying additional funding due to the challenging situation in Ukraine," as stated in the announcement.
Pistorius also noted that due to the collapse of the coalition, Germany has not approved the budget for 2025, which would have included aid for Ukraine. However, he expressed optimism that the issue will be resolved.
As reported on the Bundeswehr website, the IRIS-T system is equipped with short-range missiles designed for engaging aerial targets.
