Norway will allocate at least 35 billion Norwegian kroner (3 billion euros) in aid to Ukraine next year. As announced by the Norwegian government, all political parties in the country’s parliament unanimously agreed on this level of aid program.
In addition to the budget for the upcoming year, parliamentary parties have approved the extension of the entire aid program to Ukraine for three years, until 2030 inclusive, planning to spend a total of 154.5 billion kroner (13.25 billion euros) within this framework.
Of the planned 35 billion kroner, 22.5 billion (1.9 billion euros) will be allocated for military assistance, while 12.5 billion (1.1 billion euros) will go towards humanitarian aid in 2025.
Moving forward, Norway promises to allocate at least 15 billion kroner annually for aid to Ukraine.
“Norway firmly supports Ukraine. We will continue our assistance until 2030, and next year we will provide at least 35 billion Norwegian kroner in funding. It is crucial for Ukraine that our support is sustained over many years and backed by broad political consensus. We want the people of Ukraine to know that Norway's support will persist. I would like to thank all parties in the Storting (Norwegian parliament) for their constructive collaboration,” said Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
Background. In October, it was reported that Norway would allocate $140 million for Ukraine to purchase another Patriot system. Other countries will also financially contribute to this initiative, allowing Romania to send a Patriot system to Ukraine.
