In Ukraine, the term for re-passing the military medical commission (VLC) for those with limited fitness has been extended from February 5 to June 5. The relevant draft law was registered in the Verkhovna Rada today under number 12457.

This was announced by Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Head of the President's Office.

“We also agreed that until the aforementioned law is adopted, the Territorial Centers for Recruitment and Social Support (TCRSS) will not impose fines on those who do not manage to pass the VLC by February 5, nor will they declare them wanted. An appropriate directive will be sent accordingly,” she noted.

According to Vereshchuk, a working meeting was held today at the President's Office regarding the passage of the VLC by individuals with limited fitness.

Participants included representatives from the Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Health, the Medical Forces Command, as well as the head of the relevant parliamentary committee, Oleksandr Zavitnevych.

The necessity for the urgent adoption of legislative changes was discussed, which would stipulate that:

  • re-passing the VLC is not mandatory for individuals under 25 years old and for those properly recognized as persons with disabilities;
  • the deadline is moved from February 5 to June 5. The relevant draft law was registered in the Rada today under number 12457.

Reminder: On May 4, 2024, law No. 3621-IX came into effect in Ukraine, which amended legislation regarding the social protection of military personnel and police officers and abolished the status of “limited fitness.”

According to paragraph 2 of the Final and Transitional Provisions of this law, Ukrainian citizens who were recognized as limited fitness for military service before its adoption must undergo a repeat medical examination within nine months from the date of the law’s entry into force to determine their fitness for service.

Hence, individuals who previously held the status of “limited fitness” must re-pass the military medical commission by February 5, 2025.
