The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, has urged the EU to prohibit the import of liquefied gas from Russia.
The minister wrote this on X (Twitter).
Sybiha's comments were in response to a publication by the Financial Times, which reported that EU countries imported a record amount of Russian liquefied gas in 2024.
The head of Ukraine's foreign ministry deemed this situation "unacceptable."
"The import of Russian LNG into the EU must be banned as part of further sanctions and replaced with supplies from the USA and other partners. The market has enough LNG to avoid financing the criminal Russian regime with its aggression, war crimes, and hybrid attacks," Sybiha emphasized.
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that the energy holding DTEK on December 27 received its first shipment of liquefied gas from the USA.
