On the night of Friday, January 31, one of the largest oil refineries in Russia was attacked. The refinery is located in the Volgograd region.
This was reported by Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation.
“The Volgograd oil refinery was hit. It is one of the largest in the Russian Federation,” he wrote.
According to Kovalenko, the designed processing capacity of the refinery is approximately 14 million tons of oil per year. This makes it the sixth largest refinery in Russia. The plant produces gasoline, diesel fuel, heavy fuel oil, and aviation fuel.

As reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the operation was carried out by units of the UAV Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense. The defenders struck the LLC “Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka” in the Volgograd region.
“This refinery ranks among the top ten largest oil refineries in Russia by designed capacity and is involved in supplying the occupying army of the Russian Federation,” the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated.
After the attack, flashes and explosions were recorded in the vicinity of this key plant for the occupants. The results of the fire damage are being clarified.
