Consumers using electric heating systems will now pay the full rate only for the electricity consumed beyond the limit of 2000 kWh.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal announced this information.
“For the remaining electricity consumed, they will pay a rate of 2.64 UAH. We made the corresponding decision today,” he noted.
According to Shmyhal, during the heating season, the government has ensured that the electricity tariff for the population remains unchanged at 4.32 UAH per kWh. Additionally, a preferential rate of 2.64 UAH is provided for those using electric heating systems.
The head of the government explained that until now, this applied to those consuming up to 2000 kWh of electricity per month. However, it is noted that many people consume more than this limit and have been forced to pay the full tariff.
“To rectify this, a resolution was adopted to differentiate the preferential tariff through the PSO mechanism. This decision is part of the comprehensive support for Ukrainians that we are implementing this winter and will continue after its completion,” he emphasized.
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that the established electricity tariff will be in effect throughout the current heating season, with no plans to increase it.
