The Verkhovna Rada has adopted a draft law on the voluntary return to service for those who have deserted or left military units without permission for the first time. A total of 253 deputies voted in favor.
This was reported by Member of Parliament Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
He noted that during the period of martial law, military personnel who have deserted or left their military units or places of service without permission for the first time and voluntarily returned to their place of service, expressing their willingness to continue military service, will have their military service and contract extended.
In addition, payments for monetary assistance and the provision of food, clothing, and other types of support, as well as benefits and social guarantees, will be reinstated.
According to the document, criminal proceedings initiated regarding offenses specified in Articles 407 and 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine against military personnel who have deserted or left their military units or places of service without permission for the first time and voluntarily returned and expressed their willingness to continue military service will not be grounds for refusing to extend the military service of such personnel or their contracts.
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that the Rada allowed the demobilization of military personnel whose immediate relatives died in the war. Additionally, as MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak stated, the parliament also adopted a law on deferment from military service for those whose close relatives have died or gone missing.
