Рада одобрила законопроект о базовой военной подготовке.

The Verkhovna Rada has passed a bill amending the law "On Military Duty and Service" concerning medical registration during the preparation of conscripts. A total of 298 deputies voted in favor.

Nardep Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported this information.

One of the amendments to the document establishes that "female volunteers are registered as conscripts at their own request before basic training."

Deputy Iryna Herashchenko also added that the bill grants young men registering for military service for the first time the right to enroll in "Reserv+,” regardless of their location.

“Female volunteers are registered as conscripts at their own request before basic training. A mandatory medical examination is required before practical sessions in basic training. Boys aged 17 must register as conscripts by July 31 of the year they turn 17, either through electronic identification or by visiting the TCK,” explained Herashchenko.

The document also states that compulsory military service will be abolished starting in 2025, with a basic general military training introduced instead. It is important to note that this type of service will be mandatory for men who are fit for service based on their health status.

Basic training will commence on September 1, 2025, and will take place:

  • for students of higher education institutions – at those institutions or establishments with specific training conditions that prepare police officers;
  • for citizens who plan to enter public service, local government, or the prosecutor's office for the first time, as well as for all interested individuals – at the training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
