President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, in a conversation with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev, expressed condolences regarding the crash of Azerbaijan Airlines flight J2-8243, which fell near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan after being allegedly shot down by a Russian air defense missile over Grozny.

“We acknowledged the heroism of the pilots and the entire crew of the aircraft,” – stressed Zelensky.

“We will support Azerbaijan in this situation with all necessary means and call on other countries to provide assistance as well,” – said the Ukrainian president.

During his conversation with Aliyev, he emphasized that the key priority now is “a thorough investigation that will provide answers to all questions about what really happened.”

“Russia must provide clear explanations and stop spreading disinformation. The photos and videos clearly show damage to the aircraft's fuselage, including holes and dents that closely resemble missile strikes from air defense systems,” – noted Zelensky.

Background. Meanwhile, it has become known that Putin apologized to Aliyev for the downing of the Azerbaijani aircraft. He stated that the accident occurred because the cities of Grozny, Mozdok, and Vladikavkaz were under attack from Ukrainian drones, and Russian air defense forces were repelling these strikes.
