The European Union and Ukraine have signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the provision of macro-financial assistance amounting to €18.1 billion, sourced from frozen Russian assets.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported this information.
According to him, the €18.1 billion mentioned is part of the G7 package totaling $50 billion, which is backed by revenues from frozen Russian assets.
"This step is not only support but also a precedent for holding Russia accountable for its crimes and the beginning of a process to make the aggressor pay for its brutal war," Shmyhal emphasized.
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that the EC proposes to allocate €1 billion from frozen Russian revenues for the development of Ukraine's defense industry. In total, the EU has already transferred €3 billion from these revenues for Ukraine's defense needs.
