The U.S. will announce a new aid package for Ukraine totaling $1.25 billion.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that on Monday the United States will declare another significant aid package for Ukraine.

According to the American agency Associated Press, its size will amount to $1.25 billion.

“I know that an important decision from America in support of Ukraine is being prepared – we expect an official announcement as soon as tomorrow: substantial support packages for our soldiers,” Zelensky stated in his evening address.

AP sources in the U.S. leadership reported that the new package to be announced on Monday will include a significant volume of ammunition, including missiles for the NASAMS and HAWK air defense systems.

According to agency interlocutors, the U.S. will also provide Ukraine with Stinger missiles and artillery shells of 155 and 105 mm caliber.

AP notes that the administration of President Joe Biden aims to send as much aid to Ukraine as possible by January 20, when Donald Trump will take office.

This week, White House representatives confirmed that Ukraine will soon receive a new package of American assistance, though they did not specify either the date or the volume.

As the authors of the AP publication remind, American officials acknowledged that the Pentagon is unlikely to be able to use all $5.6 billion allocated by Congress for aid to Ukraine before Trump’s inauguration, which has not yet been spent.
