The relevant department of the Kyiv City State Administration is inactive
In 2024, the Kyiv City Council failed to create any new objects for the nature reserve fund for the first time in its history.
This information was reported by the Kyiv Ecological and Cultural Center.
As noted by KEC, previously the Kyiv Council established 10-15 new protected areas annually, thereby safeguarding green spaces and lakes from development.
According to ecologists, the failure to create new protected areas in the capital is linked to a group of "UDAR" party deputies who stripped public organizations and other deputies of their right to prepare and submit projects for the respective Kyiv Council decisions. Instead, now the Department of Environmental Protection of the Kyiv City State Administration is responsible for drafting these documents. However, it has not managed to prepare any.
Reminder: In the Podil district of the capital, a video surveillance system will soon be installed at Lake Zelenе, allowing for the rapid detection and prevention of pollution attempts in the waterbody.
