The Telegraph reports that the UK anticipates a series of Russian cyberattacks that could "darken the lights for millions."

Russia has targeted media, telecommunications, political and democratic institutions, as well as energy infrastructure.
В Великобритании ожидают серию российских кибератак, которые могут «выключить свет для миллионов» – сообщает The Telegraph.

On Monday, November 25, at the NATO conference, UK Cabinet Minister Pat McFadden will announce that Russia is prepared to launch a large-scale series of cyberattacks against Great Britain.

According to reports by The Telegraph.

“Russia is extremely aggressive and reckless in the cyber domain and seeks to gain a strategic advantage while humiliating the nations that support Ukraine,” McFadden will declare. The minister will warn of the “imminent threat” of a Russian cyberattack on British infrastructure and businesses, which could “result in power grid failures and deliver a devastating blow to the economy.”

McFadden will also inform that last year, Russian military forces and their “unofficial army of cybercriminals and hackers not only intensified their attacks but also expanded their targets to several NATO members and partners.”

In Great Britain, Russia has targeted the media, telecommunications, political and democratic institutions, as well as energy infrastructure.

“Military brutality is one thing. However, cyber warfare can be destabilizing and exhausting. Through a cyberattack, Russia could cut off power to millions of people. It can incapacitate power grids. This is a covert war that Russia is waging against Ukraine,” the minister will state.

The warning comes just days after Putin's threats to respond “decisively and in kind.” The dictator stated that Russia has the right to use weapons against the targets of those countries that allow Ukraine to use its weapons against Russian targets. The ATACAMS missiles are produced by the USA, while the Storm Shadow is from Great Britain.

The British government believes that it cannot prevent Russia from conducting cyberattacks against the country. At the same time, ministers are confident that they are taking necessary measures to prevent disruptions in electricity supply. McFadden's warning is aimed at ensuring that the critical national infrastructure and businesses in Britain do not underestimate the threat and have reliable protection.
