France has responded to Trump's statements about Greenland.

The EU will not tolerate attacks on its borders, stated the country's foreign minister.
Во Франции отреагировали на заявления Трампа о Гренландии.

The European Union will not allow other nations to attack its sovereign borders.

This was stated by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, writes Reuters.

Barrot responded to comments made by elected U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the acquisition of Greenland. The Republican did not rule out military or economic actions as part of his apparent desire to gain control over Greenland, as well as the Panama Canal.

The French minister does not believe that the United States would invade the vast Arctic island, which has been part of Denmark for over 600 years.

He added that the EU should not allow itself to be intimidated or show excessive concern, but should "wake up and strengthen itself."

Recall that during a major press conference following the certification of the U.S. presidential election results, Trump refused to promise that he would not use economic pressure or even military force to address territorial issues. This pertains to the Republican's desire to gain control over the island of Greenland and the Panama Canal. The politician reiterated his points that Greenland is necessary for the U.S. "for national security" and even expressed doubt that Denmark "has legal rights to it."

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that elected U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he does not rule out the use of military or economic actions to bring the Panama Canal and Greenland under U.S. control.
