The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the National Police apprehended a Russian intelligence agent in Kyiv who intended to carry out a terrorist attack against law enforcement officers.

The investigation revealed that the suspect received instructions to execute the attack from enemy intelligence. Subsequently, he rented an apartment in the capital, where he set up a tripwire with a live grenade and installed cameras for real-time surveillance.
Following this, the terrorist made a fake call to the emergency service 102 using a female voice, reporting domestic violence. Police officers arrived at the scene. During their attempt to enter the premises, the tripwire was triggered; however, the law enforcement officers were unharmed.
The bomber was detained shortly after. He turned out to be a 43-year-old resident of Kyiv region, who had previously served time for robbery, theft, and escape from prison. He is currently in custody – the suspect in the terrorist act faces up to 12 years behind bars.
