In Transnistria, mass gas shutoffs began on January 1, 2025.
This was reported by the company "Tiraspoltransgaz-Transnistria" in a telegram.
It is noted that Ukraine ceased the transit of Russian gas starting January 1, which several EU countries and the unrecognized Transnistria continued to receive.
On Wednesday morning, the gas transportation company "Tiraspoltransgaz-Transnistria" warned residents of the region about gas shutoffs until 12:00 in boilers, private sectors, and apartment buildings with autonomous heating.
At the same time, they clarified that in apartment buildings, gas will remain available only for cooking.
This will be possible due to reserves in the gas pipeline system, but only until the pressure in the network drops to a critical level. Local residents were urged to close gas valves and not attempt to restore gas supply on their own.
The Transnistrian television channel is publishing information from residents confirming the onset of mass shutoffs.
Recall: since December 16, Moldova has been under a state of emergency in the energy sector, which will last for 60 days. The government took this step due to uncertainty regarding the supply of Russian gas after the cessation of transit through Ukraine on January 1, 2025.
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that on December 9, the separatist state of Transnistria declared a state of economic emergency in the region due to the risk of potential disruption of Russian gas supplies.
