Korean investigators were unable to execute an arrest warrant for South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol, who was impeached by parliament for attempting to impose martial law.

This was reported by the Yonhap agency.

At the beginning of the week, the corruption investigation office among high-ranking officials received a warrant for Yoon Suk-yeol's arrest.

According to Yonhap, the police managed to disperse some of the protesters, but their numbers may increase over the weekend. Additionally, there is a risk of conflicts between investigators and the president's security service, the agency reported.

Yoon Suk-yeol stated that the country is in danger "due to internal and external forces that threaten its sovereignty and the activities of anti-state groups," and promised to fight until the end to protect the nation.

The agency reported that the president's lawyers have filed a request to suspend the warrant, labeling it as "illegal."

Yoon Suk-yeol is expected to be attempted for arrest today, as the warrant is set to expire in 48 hours, the agency speculates. If the South Korean president is arrested, he is planned to be taken to the CIO headquarters in Gwacheon for questioning. After that, he will be transferred to a detention center in the city of Uiwang, according to Yonhap.
