The Ukrainian tennis player was unable to reach the final of the year's opening tournament.

The WTA500 tournament semi-final took place in Brisbane, Australia, where Ukrainian tennis player Angelina Kalinina lost to her opponent.

The victory went to the "neutral" athlete Polina Kudermetova.

In the first set, both players confidently won their service games at first, but at one point, Kalinina lost her game "to love." In the ninth game, Kudermetova served for the set four times, but Kalinina managed to come back and break her serve, only to lose her own serve in the next game almost without resistance.

The second set mirrored the beginning of the first. In the sixth game, Kalinina failed to score any points on her serve, and this time she couldn't secure a break back, ultimately losing both the set and the match.

For reaching the tournament semi-finals, the Ukrainian earned $26,830; had she advanced to the finals, she would have secured almost double the prize money.
