A young patient at a psychiatric hospital in Kharkiv has died after suffering severe burns from a fire, according to the regional military administration.

A patient from a psychiatric hospital in Kharkiv has died in the hospital after sustaining up to 90% body burns as a result of a fire.

This information was confirmed to the correspondent of "Dumka" by the representative of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Elena Shapoval.

According to her, the man, born in 1997, was admitted to the burn intensive care unit with a diagnosis of: multifactorial injury, flame burns of III B – IV degree, and respiratory tract damage.

The man, who suffered severe burns, passed away in the hospital today, January 5.

It is worth noting that yesterday, January 4, at 21:44, a fire occurred in a psychiatric boarding school in the city of Yuzhne, Kharkiv region. As a result of the fire in the room, 6 people were injured, among whom a 32-year-old man received 90% burns, while 5 others suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning. All the injured were hospitalized.

The cause of the fire in the Komarivka psychiatric boarding house might have been a defective anti-decubitus mattress.
