In the village of Karavan, part of the Lyubotyn community in Kharkiv region, a dog was found to have rabies.
This information was reported by the Main Department of the State Consumer Service in the Kharkiv region, as conveyed by "Dumka".
According to the State Consumer Service, on January 16, the owner noticed unusual behavior in his dog, and by the next day, suspicions of rabies arose. During feeding in the kennel, the animal bit the owner's hand without breaking the skin, but left it heavily salivated. The owner also observed drooping of the dog's lower jaw, an inappropriate gaze, excessive salivation, and impaired coordination of movements.
However, it was only on January 21 that the man sought help from the Kharkiv Regional State Veterinary Medicine Hospital. The animal was isolated on the property and placed under observation. On the same day, the owner reported that the dog had died. Subsequently, rabies was confirmed in the deceased dog.
As is known, rabies is a dangerous infectious disease affecting both animals and humans, with vaccination being the most effective means of combating it.
