The Verkhovna Rada has adopted a law that revokes state awards for promoting or propagating the state-aggressor or committing other illegal acts against Ukraine. A total of 383 deputies voted in favor.
Nardep Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported this information.
It is worth noting that the draft law proposes to revoke state awards from individuals who promote or propagate the state-aggressor and its authorities, representatives of the state-aggressor's government, and their actions that create a positive image of the state-aggressor, justify or legitimize the occupation of Ukrainian territory.
According to current legislation, state awards can only be revoked if the awarded individual is convicted of a serious crime.
The draft proposes that the revocation of state awards could occur not only based on a court conviction but also on a decision by the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) regarding the implementation of special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions) introduced by a presidential decree.
“An individual stripped of state awards loses all rights and privileges granted to individuals honored with state awards of Ukraine. The state awards and the corresponding documents regarding the awards that belonged to the individual stripped of state awards must be returned within 30 days to a permanent auxiliary body established by the President of Ukraine,” the document states.

Many associates of Yanukovych and politicians from banned pro-Russian parties still hold state awards. In particular, the title of Hero of Ukraine is held by one of the leaders of the banned pro-Russian party OPZZH, Yuriy Boyko, which was awarded to him by Leonid Kuchma in 2004.
Moreover, Dmytro Tabachnyk was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, Ilya Kiva – the Order of Daniel of Galicia, and Mykola Azarov, Oleksandr Yefremov, Viktor Medvedchuk – the Orders of Prince Yaroslav the Wise.
