Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a law allowing voluntary return to service for individuals who have previously deserted military units or left their posts without permission.

This is reported on the Verkhovna Rada's website.

Recall that under this law, during the martial law period, servicemen who have deserted or left their military units without authorization for the first time and voluntarily return to their place of service and express their willingness to continue military service will have their military service and contracts extended.

In addition, payments for monetary support, as well as food, clothing, and other types of provisions, benefits, and social guarantees will be reinstated.

According to the document, criminal proceedings initiated for offenses specified in Articles 407 and 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine against servicemen who have deserted or left their posts without permission for the first time and voluntarily returned and expressed their readiness to continue military service will not be grounds for denying the extension of their military service and contract.
