At the Australian Open, there are no Ukrainian athletes left competing.

All eight Ukrainian tennis players who participated in the main stage of the tournament have already been eliminated. Here’s a summary of each of their achievements.

Nadia Kichenok (doubles with Canadian Leylah Fernandez)

The 16th seeds in the doubles tournament overcame the local players in the first round and then won in three sets in the 1/16 finals. However, in the 1/8 finals, they faced the top seeds Sinyakova and Townsend, and were unable to advance (0:2).

Ludmila Kichenok (doubles with Hao-Hsin Chan from Taiwan)

The fifth-seeded duo started with a tough victory in the first round, but their second-round match was relatively straightforward. Unfortunately for Ludmila, like her sister, their journey ended in the 1/8 finals where they lost to the 9th seeded pair.

Marta Kostyuk (singles and doubles with Romanian Gabriela Ruse)

In singles, Ukraine's top player achieved the minimum goal by reaching the third round of the Australian Open. She defeated a qualifier from Japan and convincingly beat Germany's Jule Niemeier, but could not secure a win against the challenging Paula Badosa.

In doubles, the result was even more impressive, as Kostyuk and Ruse initially defeated the Wild Card entrants and then overcame the sixth-seeded pair Mertens/Pérez. They also claimed another victory against seeded opponents in three sets.

The Ukrainian-Romanian duo was stopped in the quarter-finals by Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, with whom Marta Kostyuk played doubles at the end of 2024 (they lost that match).

Angelina Kalinina (singles and doubles with Italian Lucia Bronzetti)

Kalinina faced an unfortunate draw, meeting experienced Tunisian Ons Jabeur in the first round, but was unable to defeat her.

In doubles with the Italian player, Angelina managed to get past just one round. In the second round, they faced seeded opponents from Brazil and Germany, whom the girls lost to in two sets.

Yulia Starodubtseva (singles)

The Ukrainian faced a tough opponent in the first round, the formidable Leylah Fernandez (Nadia Kichenok's doubles partner). The Canadian was the favorite, but Yulia did not give up easily and lost after a hard-fought match.

Dayana Yastremska (singles)

The third-ranked Ukrainian had a strong start to the tournament, achieving two confident and quick victories. However, in the third round, she faced Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina – the seventh-ranked player in the world and sixth seed in the tournament, and was unable to overcome her.

Daria Snihur (singles)

For the 138th-ranked player, qualifying for the tournament was challenging, having to go through the qualifying rounds. In the first round, she was matched against the 10th seed Danielle Collins. Snihur displayed an excellent level of play and managed to "scare" her opponent.

Elina Svitolina (singles)

The star Ukrainian returned from injury and immediately showcased an impressive level of play. In the first two rounds, Svitolina won decisively against her opponents, but in the third round, she faced a representative from the TOP-5 world ranking.

Italian Jasmine Paolini confidently defeated the Ukrainian in the first set, but Elina regrouped and made a remarkable comeback.

In the 1/8 finals, Svitolina faced a Russian player, but after the birth of her daughter, Elina has not lost to players from the terrorist state. She was stopped in the quarter-finals by American Madison Keys, who defeated Svitolina in three sets.

How much did the Ukrainians earn?
