Zelensky believes that Trump could be the first Western leader to visit Ukraine by plane.

The newly elected president of the United States, Donald Trump, could be the first leader to arrive in Ukraine by plane after the war concludes – this opinion was expressed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with Lex Friedman, published on Sunday on the YouTube channel of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

“Yes, the war will end, and President Trump could be the first leader to arrive by plane. I believe that would be symbolic,” Zelensky stated.

The Ukrainian president emphasized that Ukraine shares the same stance on peace through strength as Trump does.

“I appreciated President Trump's message during his speech. I think we hold the same position on peace through strength. This is very important. It means that if you are strong, you can speak. And we must be strong. Ukraine must be strong,” Zelensky said in the interview.

Background. During the interview, Zelensky criticized the unwillingness of the U.S. to impose sanctions against Russia before the invasion, stating, “Well, that’s bullsh*t, excuse me.” According to him, before the onset of the Russian attack, he had requested two things from the U.S. – weapons and the imposition of sanctions to prevent the war.
