If the United States, under the new president Donald Trump, decides to cut military aid to Ukraine, it is likely that Ukraine will lose the war.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made this statement in an interview with the American television channel Fox News.
“If they cut the aid, I think we will lose. Of course, we will continue to fight regardless. We have our own production, but it is not enough to gain an advantage. And, in my opinion, it is insufficient for survival,” Zelensky said. “But if that is America’s choice, we will figure out what we need to do.”
At the same time, the Ukrainian president believes that Trump could influence the Russian dictator Putin and put an end to the war.
“It won’t be easy, but if all the levers of influence that the U.S. has are utilized, then yes, he (Trump) could do it,” Zelensky stated. “Because he is much stronger than Putin. The U.S. is stronger. Their economy is stronger.”
“The President of the United States has both power and authority, as well as weaponry,” Zelensky continued, responding to another question. “He can lower energy resource prices. By the way, I have heard signals in the press from President Trump that he is considering lowering energy prices, particularly oil. That is something that needs to be done.”
Background. Recall that Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski stated following the meeting of foreign ministers that five European countries are ready to assist Ukraine in the event of U.S. withdrawal.
