The British Prime Minister urged to double the sanctions pressure on Putin.

Starmer will address EU partners, urging them to put pressure on Russia.
Премьер-министр Великобритании призвал удвоить санкционное давление на Путина.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is heading to Brussels to urge Europe to double its efforts to dismantle Putin's "war machine."

This was reported in a publication on the government’s website.

The discussions will focus on revenues from the sale of energy resources and companies linked to the defense sector.

In addition, representatives from 27 countries will discuss funding to enhance Ukraine's defense capabilities and the pressure from former US President Donald Trump's administration.

"We need to see all allies stepping up, particularly in Europe. I am here to work with our European partners to continue the pressure aimed at energy revenues and the companies that supply its missile factories," the statement reads.

Starmer also plans to meet with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on February 3, before attending an informal meeting with leaders of EU member states at the European Council summit.

The document emphasizes that the British Prime Minister wants to ensure that Brexit benefits the British people. At the same time, Starmer does not wish to "cross the red lines."

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that UK Finance Minister Rachel Reeves presented the budget in Parliament after repeated statements from the ruling Labour Party about expenditures significantly exceeding revenues, necessitating painful cuts for balance. As Reeves announced, this includes defense spending, which encompasses military aid to Ukraine.
