Sad loss: scientists reveal how long Kyiv has been without winter.

Ukraine is experiencing the most severe effects of global warming in Europe.
Печальная утрата: ученые сообщили, сколько зим не было в Киеве.

Ukraine is the most affected by global warming in Europe

Due to rapid climate changes over the past three years, Kyiv has not experienced a true winter with all its characteristic natural attributes.

This was reported by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine.

“According to data from the Central Geophysical Observatory, a climatic winter has not been recorded in Kyiv for the past three years: 2022, 2023, and 2024. During these years, the average air temperature for the winter period was above 0 °C,” the ministry stated.

As scientists emphasize, it is generally accepted that a climatic winter in Ukraine begins when the average daily air temperature drops below 0 °C and remains stable there. A quarter of a century ago, it occurred almost like clockwork. Now, due to global warming, one could say that winter is non-existent.

At the same time, it is worth noting that Ukraine is among those regions of the planet where temperature increases have occurred at the fastest rates over the last decade. Specifically, climatologists have observed that over the past 60 years, the average temperature in our territory has risen nearly 2.5 times faster than the global average. In this unfortunate matter, we even outpace everyone in Europe.

Recall, according to climatologists' observations, last year Kyiv recorded 52 temperature records.
