Ukrainian pilots have completed their training on the Mirage 2000-5F fighter jets.

Ukrainian pilots and mechanics today, December 25, completed their training on French Mirage 2000-5F fighter jets after six months of instruction.

This is reported by French Aid to Ukraine.

“After six months, the training of Ukrainian pilots and mechanics on the Mirage 2000-5F has concluded. Merry Christmas!” – the message states.

Let’s remember that the Mirage 2000 is a French multi-role fighter developed by Dassault Aviation in the 1970s, serving as the primary combat aircraft for the French Air Force at the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century. Its first flight was recorded in 1978 (a year later than the MiG-29), and it was adopted into service in France in 1984.

It is in service with the armed forces of Greece, Egypt, the UAE, India, Peru, and Taiwan. Previously, Brazil and Qatar were also operators of the Mirage. The Mirage has been used in combat operations in Bosnia, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, and more.

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that in June of this year, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that the French government would supply Ukraine with Mirage 2000-5F fighter jets. They are designed for air-to-air target engagement and do not have capabilities for striking ground targets in air-to-ground operations. However, it has recently been revealed that the French Mirages delivered to Ukraine will be modified to obtain an air-to-ground configuration.
