A man will be tried near Kharkiv for systematically abusing his mother.

The Chuhuiv District Police Department has received multiple reports from an 80-year-old local resident stating that her son has been verbally abusing her and threatening her with physical harm for an extended period.

This information was shared by the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region, as reported by "Dumka".

Law enforcement officials determined that the 50-year-old local man is unemployed and spends all his free time consuming alcohol. While under the influence, he systematically insults, humiliates, threatens his mother with physical violence, and demands money from her.

Police officers have repeatedly conducted preventive measures and held the man administratively accountable; however, the offender did not choose the path of correction and continued to abuse alcohol and commit unlawful acts against his mother.

On February 21, the investigator informed the suspect of the charges under Article 126-1 (domestic violence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Currently, the pre-trial investigation has been completed, and the indictment has been sent to court. The accused faces up to two years in prison for committing domestic violence against a woman.
