В Харькове двое молодых людей жестоко избили пенсионера с целью завладеть его телефоном.

Two residents of Kharkiv assaulted a 59-year-old man and stole his mobile phone; the court found them guilty and sentenced them to prison.

This was reported by the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, as conveyed by "Dumka".

According to prosecutors, the incident occurred on March 21, 2022, in Lavrentyevsky Lane (formerly Nogina). Two men, aged 31 and 36, knocked on the door of a private house, asking to charge their phone. The owner refused, after which the strangers left.

When the man later went outside, they attacked him – striking him in the face several times, knocking him down, and stealing his phone. They didn’t manage to escape – they were detained by witnesses.

One of the assailants already had a criminal record. In court, he claimed that the victim attacked first, while the second attacker completely denied taking the phone.

The Chervonozavodsky District Court of Kharkiv found them guilty of robbery committed by a group of individuals under martial law (Part 4, Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sentence is 8 and 9 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. Currently, the appeal period is ongoing.
