In Kharkiv, two teenagers have been exposed for setting fire to military vehicles.
This information has been reported by the communication department of the National Police of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region, as conveyed by "Dumka".
According to the police, reports of the arson were received in July 2024. It was later determined that two teenagers, aged 17 and 15, were involved in the crime. The older one received a message from an unknown person offering money to set fire to military vehicles. He involved his acquaintance in carrying out the "assignment".
Thus, the boys doused a Mitsubishi L200 with a flammable mixture and set it on fire. The following night, they also ignited a Volkswagen Transporter T5. Both vehicles belonged to military personnel. The perpetrators filmed their actions to confirm the "work" they had done and fled the scene of the crime.
At present, the 15-year-old perpetrator has been notified of suspicion under part 2 of article 28 and part 2 of article 194 (Intentional destruction or damage to property) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He has been placed under house arrest as a preventive measure.
Meanwhile, the 17-year-old arsonist has been informed of suspicion under part 1 of article 114-1 (Obstruction of lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations) and part 2 of article 28 and part 2 of article 194 (Intentional destruction or damage to property) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. A decision is being made regarding the preventive measure.
Both young offenders face up to 10 years in prison.
